Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention (MCVP) is the
only non-profit agency in the Monadnock Region solely committed to supporting
survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, and to breaking the
cycle of violence through prevention education programs in schools, businesses,
and our communities. Our advocate philosophy is based on the empowerment model.
We provide options and support survivors in their decisions.
MCVP began in 1978 as a grassroots volunteer organization known as Women’s
Crisis Services. In 2003, the agency’s name was changed to Monadnock Center for
Violence Prevention to reflect its commitment to helping women, men and
children, as well as its prevention education and outreach efforts. MCVP serves
the 44 towns of Cheshire and Western Hillsborough Counties.
Domestic Violence in the Workplace
Customized presentations for community and faith-based organizations, social
service agencies, medical and legal professionals, business owners and law
enforcement are developed to raise awareness and understanding of domestic and
sexual violence and stalking. MCVP is proud to sponsor/co-sponsor a variety of
outreach and awareness programs throughout the year at community fairs and
events.
Domestic Violence in the Workplace
MCVP Helps Workplaces Save Money, Be Better Employers, and Save Lives.
MCVP’s “Domestic Violence in the Workplace” initiative, an education and
outreach program, is designed to provide consultation with businesses helping
them recognize their unique and significant roles in addressing domestic
violence.
Ninety-six percent of employees who were victims of domestic violence reported
some type of workplace problem as a direct result of their abuse. More than 60%
were often late, 54% missed at least three full days of work per month, work
performance suffered for 70% of the victims, 60% were reprimanded for diminished
performance, and 30% were fired. (NY Victim Services; US Dept of Labor)
We help workplaces of all sizes and types. We create cost effective prevention
and intervention programs through proactively providing resources and training
opportunities and help create and implement pertinent policies.
