Opportunities for volunteer assignments include:

Crisis Intervention Worker - Trained volunteer will listen, support provide information & referrals and discuss options for the survivor for the present situation and the future. The survivor's safety is our greatest concern.
A 40-hour training is required prior to assignment.
Responsibilities include: support of clients via phone or at the local hospital. Method of assignment: sign up on a monthly basis to be on-call for MCVP's 24-hour crisis hotline. Shifts are Monday-Thursday 4:00pm - 8:00am the following day, Fridays 4:00pm - 9:00am (Saturday morning), Saturdays 9:00am - 9:00am (Sunday morning), Sundays 9:00am - 8:00am (Monday morning). Staff provides backup. Volunteers are expected to respond within 10 minutes to a phone call and within 30 minutes to a hospital call.
Another option is to provide office phone support, assist walk-in clients at the office and/or provide court advocacy at Keene District Court, Cheshire Superior Court or Jaffrey/Peterboro District Court is also an option.
Support Group Facilitator - After specialized training, the volunteer would, with a partner, co-facilitate a domestic violence or sexual assault support group.
Office Assistant-Special Projects - Provide in-office support which would not include working with clients. Volunteer would not have to participate in 40 hour training.
Childcare for support group meetings - Active licensure is required.
Fundraising and Event Planning -MCVP is always in need of this essential support. The annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event in April is one great example of a time we need special help.
Outreach through local schools, community organizations and businesses - These opportunities to provide prevention education and awareness programs are limited and would take specialized training.
Shelter Opportunities - Our emergency shelter provides a short-term, safe and confidential living place for survivors and their children who are fleeing an abusive relationship. Volunteers are needed to assist with household cleaning, managing donations, etc.
