What to expect at the event

Elements MMA and the Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention are teaming up to offer a day of mixed martial arts basics to empower women, female-identifying people, or anyone in our community interested in learning! At this event, you can sample several mini-workshops to experience the four Elements that can help empower and strengthen you: striking, grappling, fitness, and flexibility. Donations will be accepted to support MCVP’s efforts to prevent interpersonal power-based violence in the Monadnock Region. Special discounted memberships and private lesson packages will be offered at the event. Refreshments will be provided.

What is MMA?

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a new style of martial arts that has come from the age of information. It has been found to be the most effective martial art for self-defense and competition. It is not one particular style but rather a blend of all types. At Elements-MMA, they combine this approach with strength, conditioning, and yoga to create a holistic approach to self-defense.

Self-Defense & Domestic and Sexual Violence:

MMA can help empower anybody. That said, every person reacts to threats of harm or physical harm differently; we each have a fight, flight, or freeze response, and we often don’t know how we will react to a situation until it happens. In addition, most victims of interpersonal power-based violence know their perpetrator — and likely have a strong emotional connection — making physical defense a challenge, if not impossible. MMA can be an empowering tool for self-discovery, strength, and reclaiming one’s independence. However, we should never assume that knowing MMA will prevent or stop physical violence.

Mind. Body. Empowerment.

We can’t wait to see you there! MCVP: Crisis & Prevention Center is excited to partner with Elements-MMA to bring the community a day of learning, exercise, and self-care. This event is inclusive of all fitness levels, so all are invited to join! So come dressed and ready to move. Children 10+ are welcome to join, but parents will be responsible for their training and supervision.
